Pride is a call to action — and at DAHA, action means changing systems to protect and empower every survivor.
Pride is a call to action — and at DAHA, action means changing systems to protect and empower every survivor.
This Pride Month, we stand with LGBTQ+ survivors of domestic abuse, especially those facing intersecting barriers due to racism, ableism, transphobia, and other forms of discrimination. Too often, their access to safety, dignity, and housing is limited by systems not built for them.
At DAHA, we champion a Whole Housing Approach that is:
- Survivor-led
- Trauma-informed
- Intersectional and anti-racist
We work to dismantle structures that exclude and harm, while building policy and practice that centres on equity, empathy, and accountability.
We know that LGBTQ+ survivors — particularly trans people and those from Black and racially minoritised communities — are too often met with gatekeeping, silence, or discriminatory practice when seeking support. This must change.
Our accreditation framework sets out clear expectations for housing providers to:
- Challenge gatekeeping
- Recognise intersecting identities in service design
- Collaborate with By & For organisations
- Centre survivor voices
- Use data to inform inclusive responses
This Pride, we call on housing providers, commissioners, and policymakers to move beyond inclusive language and commit to intersectional action — in every borough, every policy, and every home.
Let’s ensure that no one is left behind.
